A gyser in Saratoga Spa State Park. Gideon Putnam Resort offers easy access to Saratoga Springs' biggest attractions.  From the Roosevelt Mineral Baths & Spa, championship golf and hiking to horse racing - our Saratoga Springs activities offer activities for everyone.

The Saratoga Springs attractions in the Saratoga Spa State Park include a beautiful 18-hole championship golf course and a par three executive course, Roosevelt Mineral Baths & Spa, the Saratoga Automobile Museum, Hall of Springs, Spa Little Theatre, Dance Museum and Saratoga Performing Arts Center®.

Summer Activities


Summer in Saratoga During summer the Saratoga Spa State Park offers four clay and four macadam tennis courts, walking, jogging, bicycling, and hiking on the nature trails. Picnic pavilions (for an additional fee) are also available which include volleyball and softball. Natural geysers and mineral springs can easily be seen throughout the park.  Tennis instructor Bill Yaiser, is also available by appointment (518-369-0043).

You can also swim in the two outdoor pools located within the park - Victoria and the Peerless. 

Operated by the State Park, the Victoria pool is available to guests of the Gideon Putnam as well as the public.  Located behind the hotel, guests will enjoy the walk through the park to the pool.  The Victoria pool is open 7 days a week from June 26, 2010 through September 6, 2010.  The operating hours for the Victoris Pool are 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. If you are not a guest of the Gideon Putnam Resort, adults are $8.00 and children are $4.00.

The Peerless Pool is a larger area with a family oriented atmosphere.  The Peerless Pool is open 6 days a week, closed on Tuesdays, from June 26, 2010 through September 6, 2010.  The operating hours are 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Adults are $2.00 and children are $1.00.  Additional park entry fee required.

Thoroughbred and Harness Racing


Horse racing in Saratoga Springs, New York. Horse racing draws visitors from around the country. Gideon Putnam Resort is conveniently located just minutes from the action at both the flat track at The Saratoga Race Course and the harness track at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway.


Fall Activities


Fall in Saratoga. During fall, the Saratoga Spa State Park offers four clay and four macadam tennis courts, walking, jogging, bicycling, and hiking on the nature trails weather permitting. Picnic pavilions (for an additional fee) are also available which include volleyball and softball. Natural geysers and mineral springs can easily be seen throughout the park.  Take a stroll and enjoy the beauty of the Fall foilage right outside the Gideon Putnam Resort.

Winter Activities


Winter in Saratoga. In the winter, you can take advantage of the splendor of the beautiful snow-covered scenery throughout the Saratoga Spa State Park.  In the 2,300 acre park, enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or ice skating on either of our two rinks. Cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails are groomed weather permitting.  Trails begin at the warming hut which is located off of the Avenue of the Pines.

Spring Activities


Spring in Saratoga During spring, once the snow melts, the Saratoga Spa State Park offers walking, jogging, and hiking on the nature trails. Trail maps are available at the hotel front desk for your use. Natural geysers and mineral springs can easily be seen throughout the park.
